The Return
Nobody tells you but
somehow you know
most people will return
to where they’re from
after their allotted time,
but as much as they
forget everything else
after they get back,
they never get the roar
of those rivers
out of their ears,
or the thunder of the waves
in that bottomless sea-cave…
